Government
The City of Manassas is an independent City which operates under a Council-Manager form of government. The City Council consists of seven members, including a Mayor and Vice Mayor who are selected by the Council after each election.

Council members serve four-year terms. The City Manager is appointed by the City Council to serve as chief administrative officer.

Located approximately 30 miles southwest of Washington, DC in the approximate center of Prince William County, Virginia, bordered by the City of Manassas Park.
