Transportation Demand Management

NVRC is pleased to be the recipient of a Transportation Demand Management (TDM) grant from the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission (NVTC) through the Commuter Choice program. The grant allows NVRC to provide TDM services to the three major military bases in the I395/95 corridor to promote ridesharing, car and van pooling and other alternatives.

  • Guaranteed Ride Home Program
    Guaranteed Ride Home provides commuters who regularly (twice a week) carpool, vanpool, bike, walk or take transit to work with a FREE and reliable ride home when one of life’s unexpected emergencies arise.
  • Arlington County Mobile Commuter Store
    The Commuter Store®, Mobile Commuter Store, and CommuterDirect.com® provide one-stop shopping for Metro, VRE, MARC, and Circulator fares.
  • Arlington Transit
    ART - Arlington Transit is Arlington’s local bus service.
  • DASH BUS
    Dash is the City of Alexandria’s local bus service.
  • WMATA
    Operator of the regional subway and bus service.
  • Fairfax County Connector
    Fairfax Connector is the largest local bus system in the Northern Virginia region transporting approximately 30,000 passengers on 91 routes daily.
  • Loudoun County Commuter Bus
    Operator of commuter and transit bus services from Loudoun County.
  • OmniRide
    OmniRide operates Express and Local bus services in Prince William County surrounded by the busy I-95 and I-66 corridors.
  • Virginia Railway Express (VRE)
    VRE operates commuter rail service Monday through Friday between the Northern Virginia suburbs and Washington, D.C.
  • Capital Bikeshare
    Capital Bikeshare is metro DC’s bikeshare service, with 4,300 bikes and 500+ stations across 7 jurisdictions: Washington, DC.; Arlington, VA; Alexandria, VA; Montgomery, MD; Prince George’s County, MD; Fairfax County, VA; and the City of Falls Church, VA. Designed for quick trips with convenience in mind, it’s a fun and affordable way to get around.
  • Waze Carpool
    A cost-effective alternative to rideshare services, Carpool lets you choose to drive or ride with people already going your way.
  • Virginia EZ Pass
    Official Virginia web site to purchase an EZ Pass.
  • Slug Lines or Sluglines
    Two different websites for everything you would like to know about slug lines. Slugging is a term used to describe a unique form of commuting found in the Washington, DC area sometimes referred to as "Instant Carpooling" or "Casual Carpooling".  
  • Van Pool Alliance
    Vanpool Alliance is a public-private partnership between the George Washington Regional Commission (GWRC), the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission (NVTC), the Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission (PRTC) and the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT).
