In the Fall of 2013 the members of the Northern Virginia Regional Commission (NVRC) held a strategic planning session in Purcellville, Virginia. The Commissioners of the NVRC found that issues surrounding workforce e.g., training, education, workforce shortages and other related topics are an issue of regional significance.
As the result of the planning session, the NVRC established a working Task Force to study the multifaceted and complex issues surrounding workforce. The NVRC is committed to aligning Virginia’s interested parties to speak with one voice in support of high quality workforce solutions.
NVRC Work Force Task Force
The Work Force Task Force convened and held three listening sessions with distinct audiences involved in work force issues. The first listening session was held on January 24, 2014 with the business community. The second listening session was held on January 31, 2014 with members of the Workforce Investment Boards that serve Northern Virginia, non-profit organizations and faith based organizations. The third listening session was held on March 26, 2014 with the secondary and post secondary education institutions seeing the region.
