Objective
Non-profit housing developers seek to provide quality communities for modest income people by preserving and expanding affordable housing choices. These can include housing programs such as project-based Housing Choice Vouchers (formerly Section 8), affordable dwelling units programs, tax credit rentals, as well as programs to for first-time homebuyers and to assist homeowners with critical housing rehabilitation.
Services
Non-profits may sponsor specific purpose housing, such as housing persons with disabilities, seniors, families, etc. They often have information on affordable housing rentals that are not accessed through the local Housing Choice Voucher lists.
Non-profit developers work on their own and in concert with state, local and federal governments and for-profit entities.
