[ARCHIVED] National Campaign to Persuade Congress to Dedicate D-Block Radio Spectrum for Public Safety

In order for first responders to better communicate when faced with future regional emergency events, the Federal Communications Commission has proposed providing the nation’s public safety community a dedicated 700MHz radio spectrum, also known as the “D-Block.” Essentially, the D-Block spectrum will provide first responders commercial 4G cell phone network capabilities and allow the public safety sector the use of the latest technical innovations and applications of evolving cell phone network technologies. Intense lobbying by cell-phone companies has so far hindered progress with the initiative. The Northern Virginia Emergency Response System fully supports the FCC’s plan. A video has been created as a part of a national campaign to persuade Congress to dedicate the “D-Block” for public safety.
