NVRC is pleased to report completion of its first training event for 15 Northern Virginia traffic safety instructors, citizens and staff from the region who will lead safety outreach in high crash areas. The trainees who live and work in Alexandria, Loudoun, Arlington, Fairfax and Manassas, will complete 40 hours of in-person training.
In exchange for significant training that includes League of American bicyclist instructor certification and extensive pedestrian safety education, each will available to train in high crash communities for free beginning mid-April. Special thanks to our partner Inova Trauma Services for hosting, Washington Area Bicyclists Association and Bike Arlington for providing training, Fairfax Alliance for Better Bicycling for providing administrative support, and the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles for funding this project.
