Salary: $59,517 - $79,355 annualized hiring range; subject to qualifications

Description:  The Northern Virginia Regional Commission (NVRC) is currently recruiting qualified candidates for the full-time, grant-funded position of Transportation Demand Management Outreach Coordinator.  This position reports to the Director, Community and Military Partnerships.  The incumbent will work with three military bases and several federal facilities in Northern Virginia to provide sustainable commuter transportation services and oversee all aspects of the Transportation Demand Management (TDM) program.  The TDM Outreach Coordinator will provide leadership in building strategic partnerships in support of both the bases and the local jurisdictions.  It will develop TDM marketing materials and update base websites; compile data to analyze the effectiveness of the TDM Program; evaluate the mode shifts of single occupancy vehicles to car and van pools, transit use, and ridesharing programs;  It provides expertise in TDM matters region-wide and makes presentations on related topics.  The incumbent will assist in the development of a Regional Strategic Plan to address the military driving along I-95, towards a more sustainable transportation model.

The successful candidate will have some familiarity with TDM, be able to market the program through both written and online information as well as one-on-one and group discussion, have an understanding of and be able to coordinate with military personnel and their families to further TDM, and be able to implement and monitor the regional TDM business plan to achieve program goals. 

Minimum Qualifications:  Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to:  Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in transportation planning, public administration, marketing, or related field PLUS 2 years of professional experience working in a successful employer ridesharing program and/or performing logistical work. A Control Access Card (CAC) and driver’s license are required.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Two years of TDM experience creating vanpool or carpool opportunities;
  • Knowledge of military culture;
  • Some experience working with transportation systems in this region.
