Description: The NVRC is currently recruiting qualified candidates for the full-time, grant-funded position of Transportation Demand Management Outreach Coordinator. This position reports to the Director, Community and Military Partnerships. The incumbent will work with three military bases and several federal facilities in Northern Virginia to provide sustainable commuter transportation services and oversee all aspects of the Transportation Demand Management (TDM) program. The TDM Outreach Coordinator will provide leadership in building strategic partnerships in support of both the bases and the local jurisdictions. It will develop TDM marketing materials and update base websites; compile data to analyze the effectiveness of the TDM Program; evaluate the mode shifts of single occupancy vehicles to car and van pools, transit use, and ridesharing programs; It provides expertise in TDM matters region-wide and makes presentations on related topics. The incumbent will assist in the development of a Regional Strategic Plan to address the military driving along I-95, towards a more sustainable transportation model.
The successful candidate will be familiar with military culture and project management to be able to change traveler behavior, be able to market the program through both written and online information as well as one-on-one and group discussion, have an understanding of and be able to coordinate with military personnel and their families to further TDM, and be able to implement and monitor the number of mode shifts changed and sustained. The candidate must be able to think outside the box to propose ideas that can help get people out of their cars.
Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree; PLUS 2 years of professional project management experience, and knowledge of military culture.
Job requires US Citizenship, a Control Access Card (CAC), and a driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of project management experience;
- Outreach and marketing expertise;
- Ability to come up with creative ways to appeal to the military mindset that will change driving behavior.
